On the heels of International Women’s Day, the Impact Investors’ Foundation (IIF), a multi-sectoral collaborative organization established to promote the growth and excellence of impact investing in Nigeria have announced its collaboration with SME.NG is an impact investment platform that invests in female-led Nigerian MSMEs and enables them to realize environmental, social, and financial returns.
The collaboration between the duo which was put into effect by a signed memorandum of understanding early this year is hinged on three main pillars –
a) Joint accelerator program – Investment-readiness.
b) Ebi Marketplace – Access to market and knowledge via an app and
c) workshops and capacity-building programs.
On the joint accelerator program, the duo has combined their strengths in a united front to organize a result-focused pre-investment readiness accelerator program. While SME.NG’s all-women accelerator, Nigeria’s first non-tech all-women accelerator, is designed to respond to the capacity challenges female entrepreneurs face, the IIF’s bespoke accelerator designed around specific needs of entrepreneurs. The joint accelerator is designed to support financial inclusion and technical assistance for impact-oriented women entrepreneurs in Nigeria. The accelerator will culminate in deal-matching of participants to investors at the Funding Space and IIF Deal Summit events.
Female entrepreneurs face challenges in accessing finance, markets, and in receiving technical support for their businesses. Hence, The Ebi-Marketplace, a one-stop-shop app has been designed to address these challenges women face. IIF would be providing content on impact investing such as building impact models; measuring and reporting impact in order to prepare female entrepreneurs to access financing from impact-focused investors. In 2022, IIF and SME.NG will be organizing 2 workshops. The first which is on digitalization is scheduled to hold on March 29, 2022, and will feature speakers billed to speak on “Women Access to Finance & Technology – What are the barriers and opportunities.” The second workshop with the theme- “Blended Finance Case Studies in Nigeria” will feature SME.NG and a few other organizations. They will share their experience in blending finance for maximum social impact in Nigeria.
In the spirit of celebrating women, IIF and SME.NG invites women across the enterprise landscape to participate in this epoch-making workshop on March 29, 2022, for women in the field of impact investing and sustainable finance. The theme of the workshop is Digitizing Access to Finance for Women Entrepreneurs. To register, click here.
